Prof. Lyubomir Stoykov was awarded the Order of SS Cyril and Methodius Collar

At an official ceremony in the Presidency of the Republic of Bulgaria, President Rumen Radev honoured Prof. Lyubomir Stoykov, PhD, with the Order of SS Cyril and Methodius collar for his significant contributions in the field of culture and art. Prof. Stoykov is a culturologist, art historian and journalist, long-time teacher in the Department of Fashion Design at the National Academy of Art, and teacher at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and the University of National and World Economy.
Prof. Lyubomir Stoykov was nominated by an Initiative Committee comprising Prof. Georgi Iankov, Rector of the National Academy of Art, Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov, PhD, Rector of the University of National and World Economy, Prof. Stefan Serezliev, PhD, Rector of Lyuben Groys Theatre College, Iliyana Raeva, Stefka Kostadinova, Hristo Mutafchiev, Snezhana Todorova, Chair of the Management Board of the Union of Bulgarian Journalists, Prof. Efrem Efremov, PhD, Prof. Milko Petrov, PhD, and others.
In his acceptance speech, Prof. Stoykov emphasised the need to ... protect culture from the incursions of non-spiritualness, kitsch, falsehood and profanation. Because not only do we build culture, culture also builds us!
Lyubomir Stoykov (b. 1954, Stara Zagora, Bulgaria) is a professor at the National Academy of Art, Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" and the University of National and World Economy. He has authored 20 science and journalism books. Prof. Stoykov is the creator of television fashion journalism in Bulgaria, creator and host of popular TV programmes about style and fashion design, founder of the Bulgarian Academic Association for Communications, Chair of the Academy of Fashion. He is a member of a number of Bulgarian and international unions and associations, among which the Union of Scientists in Bulgaria, the Union of Bulgarian Journalists and the Union of Bulgarian Artists, the Metropolitan Museum (New York), the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), the European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA), and the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR).
Prof. Stoykov is the holder of the St. Kliment Ohridski Honorary Badge with blue ribbon for overall contribution to the development of journalism, the Honorary Badge of the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", the Honorary Badge of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria for significant contribution to Bulgarian culture, science and education, the honorary plaquette for contribution to the building of Bulgarian youth values of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Golden Age star for significant contribution to the development and promotion of Bulgarian culture and art and on the occasion of the National Awakeners' Day bestowed by the Ministry of Culture, the Golden Feather of the Union of Bulgarian Journalists, etc.
The Order of SS Cyril and Methodius is the second highest ranking order to the Order of Stara Planina in the awarding system of the Republic of Bulgaria. It is awarded by the head of state to Bulgarian and foreign citizens who have significantly contributed to the development of culture, art, education and science.
