Symbiosis is an interdisciplinary project that unites the works of students from the Department of Fashion Design at the National Academy of Art and students pursuing the Bachelor's degrees programmes in Biology and Chemistry, in Geography and Biology and in Biology and English at the Faculty of Biology at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski".

 

What happens when the paths of fashion and science intersect? The answer to this question is provided by the innovative collaboration between Fashion Design students and their Biology fellow students. The “Symbiosis” project visually presents the meaning and significance of sustainable fashion inspired by biodiversity and the exhibits in the National Museum of Natural History at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

 

The students from the Department of Fashion Design are also focusing on the development of minimal waste garments. The project presents fashion garments inspired by exhibits in the National Museum of Natural History at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, which will be exhibited at several locations in the museum through installations of mannequins and information boards related to each individual species of mammals, birds, fish, insects and mollusks and created by students from the Faculty of Biology at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”.
