The artist Nevena Angelova presents the Altitudes solo exhibition of illustrations in the Atelier Gallery of the National Academy of Art – Burgas Branch.
Nevena Angelova (b. 1974, Burgas, Bulgaria) graduated in 1993 from the St. St. Cyril and Methodius Secondary School in Burgas (art class). In 1999, she graduated with a degree in Book and Printed Graphics from the Nikolay Pavlovich Higher Institute of Fine Arts in the course of Prof. Nikolay Aleksiev. She is a full-time assistant professor at the Department of Drawing of the National Academy of Art.
The artist works in the field of art illustration and book art with a pronounced interest in the play between a painted image and a filmed plastic object, sometimes with the intervention of digital interpretation. Her solo expositions of illustrations were presented at the Dimitar Dobrovich Art Gallery in Sliven as part of the Konstantin Konstantinov National Award (2023); in the Absinthe Gallery (Sofia, 2019 & 2022); in the Mediatheque of Tan-Serne (France, 2022) and others. She worked as an illustrator and graphic designer on numerous publishing projects: for Znatsi Publishing House, Janet 45, Faber, Kolibri, Ina, ICU, Polyana and the French publishing house Elitchka).
Some of the international book festivals and fairs she participated in are the International Art Book Biennale and artistic residency (Horn, Austria, 2002), Le livre sur la place Book Fair (Nancy, France, 2021 & 2023).
She has lead creative workshops at La Caravane des ecritures (Saint-Louis agglomeration, France, 2022) and Petit chien rêve d'une maison during the Brussels Book Fair / Foire du Livre de Bruxelles, (online, 2021).

– Konstantin Konstantinov National Award in the Illustrator category (2023);
– Nomination for the Hristo G. Danov National Award for contribution to Bulgarian literary culture in the Artist or Book Design and Layout category (2023);
– Golden Lion Certificate of the Bulgarian Book Association (2022)
– Book "Who Scurries for a Little Fish" included in the prestigious White Ravens selection of the International Children's and Youth Library in Munich (2022)
Nevena Angelova has exhibited several solo exhibitions of abstract and semi-abstract paintings which combine drawing, painting, collage, assemblage. Among the exhibition venues are Fries Graphic Museum Foundation (Joure, Netherlands, 2004); in Cavalet Gallery (Varna, 2006), l'Art'monie Gallery (Geneva, Switzerland, 2013 & 2014), Nest Gallery (Geneva, Switzerland, 2013), and others.
