St Luka National High School of Applied Arts, 134 Slivnitsa Blvd, Sofia
The Department of Printmaking is one of the oldest at the National Academy of Art, existing almost since the opening of the State School of Drawing in 1896. In academic year 1904/1905, the Art and Industry Department at the State School of Drawing expanded and a lithography school training was included within the special course of study. The first teachers in the printmaking department were the Czech lithographers Josif Silaba and Josif Piter.
The exhibition ARTIS GRAPHICAE EX ACADEMIA presents works by graduates and current BA students from the Department of Printmaking. It includes graphic sheets created by using the various graphic techniques studied in the Bachelor's and Master's courses of study – letterpress, intaglio, lithography, serigraphy, digital printing.
Currently, the teachers in the Department of Printmaking – Prof. Yohan Yotov, PhD, Prof. Desislava Hristova, PhD, Assoc. Prof. Dimo Kolibarov, Assoc. Prof. Vasil Kolev, PhD, Asst. Prof. Zoran Mishe, Ivan Mateevare highly recognisable in contemporary graphic art and winners of numerous prestigious awards and distinctions.
The exhibition is part of the project "The Departments of the National Academy of Art", which the St Luka National High School of Applied Arts is implementing jointly with the National Academy of Art.
