BESTIARY – a new meeting of characters, dramatis personae and images created over forty years

The illustration book "Bestiary" by Prof. Victor Paunov – "a book to view", contains selected illustrations, drawings, sketches and other images made by the artist between 1981 and 2024. Focused on animal illustrations, the publication collects popular heroes, characters, images and fragments in a new, unexpected vision.
The book is purposefully devoid of text, allowing the illustrations to create their own visual narrative in three sections: "Fictions", "Nature" and "Monster". The images are taken out of their original context and, combined in a new way, challenge the viewer's imagination, offering endless possibilities for discovery with each page turning. This is not a retrospective album, but a provocative publication that demonstrates the diversity of Prof. Paunov's work and the power of illustration to create new worlds.

An exhibition of the same name, presenting drawings and illustrations of animals from the world of Victor Paunov, can be visited from 15 April to 1 June 2025 in the exhibition hall "Triangular Tower of Serdika", a branch of the Regional History Museum – Sofia.
