Exhibition "Art and Design" of the Department of Textiles -- Art and Design will be presented in the city of Burgas

The Department of Textiles -- Art and Design will celebrate the 125th anniversary of the National Academy of Art and its own anniversary by presenting the exhibition "Art and Design" at Center for Contemporary Art and Library - Burgas, Exhibition Hall, 4th floor."Art and Design" will present lecturers' works and students' experimental works in the field of textile art and textile design, distinguished by their innovative nature and individualities.
Year 2020 marked 60 years since the establishment of the Department in its modern form and 122 years (1898 -- 2020) since teaching of textiles in schools for design and textile techniques began in 1898, immediately after the opening of the National Academy of Art as State School of Drawing in 1896.
The series of celebratory events started with holding the International Online Symposium on Textile Education and Guidelines for the Development of the Art of Textiles, held on 4 December 2020. The lecturers were renowned and established names from the United Kingdom, Switzerland, France, Poland, China and Bulgaria.
The celebration programme includes three more events to take place in November & December 2021, and in January 2022:
• Exhibition "The Exquisite in Textile Art", 9-23 December 2021
Presenting students works and the position, demands and achievements of both students and teachers over the last ten years

• Exhibition "THE TEACHERS", 21 December 2021 to 21 January 2022
Presenting the period from the introduction of studies in textile tradition and techniques (since 1896, the founding the State School of Drawing) and its formation in a separate department in academic year 1959/1960 to the present day; the experience, high professionalism and creativity of textiles teachers over the years to preserve the image of the oldest art school in Bulgaria, built more than a century by some of the most dedicated and talented Bulgarian artists,
