First graduate students with MA degree in Photography at the National Academy of Art – Burgas Branch

The graduation defense of the students who have pursued the Master's degree programme in Photography at the Burgas Branch of the National Academy of Art took place on 24 January 2026. The five graduates–Denislava Veleva, Velislava Nikolova, Vladimir Popov, Tanya Belinova and Kristiyan Ivanov–presented their projects in an exhibition at Atelier Gallery before an examination committee consisting of: Prof. Svetozar Benchev (Director of the Branch), Assoc. Prof. Boyka Donevska, PhD (Head of the Department of History of Art), Assoc. Prof. Ivan Kyuranov, PhD (leader of the Master's programme), Assoc. Prof. Rossen Toshev, PhD, and Assoc. Prof. Genadi Gatev, PhD.
 
The Master's Programme in Photography was designed to be in support of young photographers, artists and those interested in developing in the field of art and conceptual photography. During the training period, students learn how to apply the various principles and possibilities of visual arts through the technique and expressive means of photography.
 
The training is conducted by established lecturers through lectures, intensive practical courses, implementation of short artistic projects, discussions, visits of guest lecturers, and workshops. Students have access to modern technical equipment, which they can use to realise their individual works professionally. Students develop technical and creative skills for implementing in the field of classical and contemporary photography through a free choice of various additional courses and workshops. The main approach in the educational process is individual work with each student to stimulate individual creativity and potential.
