2024.09.20

This year, the graduates from the National Academy of Art, Master's degree programme in Digital Arts–Yoana-Sofia Vangelova, Tanya Nedelcheva, and Ralitsa Georgieva–supervised by Prof. Venelin Shurelov, PhD, participated in one of the world's largest forums for digital arts–Ars Electronica Festival for Art, Technology and Society in Linz, Austria.

The students presented the exhibition Mimicry, Metaphor, Mistake featuring their graduation projects united by the themes of connectedness, identity and processes beyond function. Realised in different materials–digital sculpture, genetic analysis and installation–the works by the female artists call for reflection on the choices that define a person, interconnections and lasting legacy. The projects explore the different layers inherent in human experience and environment.

Since its inception in 1979, the Ars Electronica festival has been a forum for creating an environment where people from all over the world come together to exchange ideas and inspire one another. During the festival days, 1,260 artists, scientists, researchers, entrepreneurs and activists from 67 countries were welcomed, who collectively contributed to the success of Ars Electronica 2024. With 10 official and 8 affiliated venues, 498 events and an exceptional atmosphere, the festival events were attended and viewed by more than 112,000 visitors, which makes this year's edition of the festival the most successful one to date.
