National Academy of Art contributing to the development of creative tourism

On 11th and 12th March 2026, the team of the National Academy of Art – Burgas Branch organised and held a round table on the topic "Culture – Our Common Future" in Georgi Baev Hall at the Sea Casino Cultural Centre, Burgas.
 
The event was opened by Prof. Svetozar Benchev, Director of the National Academy of Art – Burgas Branch, and Eray Küçükoslu, representative of the Directorate of Culture and Tourism in the city of Edirne, Republic of Turkey. The organisers and participants were welcomed by Mr Manol Todorov, Deputy Mayor, Sports and Tourism, Burgas Municipality. The forum was attended by representatives of the tourism sector, local and regional authorities, non-governmental organisations, cultural institutions, artists and other stakeholders from the cross-border region of Bulgaria–Turkey. The round table achieved its goal, establishing itself as an effective platform for the exchange of experience and opinions on the role of culture and creativity in the development of tourism.
 
An important contribution to the event being successful were the discussions after each presentation and the shared professional experience of Assoc. Prof. Boyka Donevska, PhD, Head of the Department of Art History, National Academy of Art, and Prof. Diana Radoinova, PhD. Particularly impactful for the attendees were the creative activities presented by Rumyana Emanouilidou and Asst. Prof. Emanuela Kovach, National Academy of Art. The programme also included expert presentations by Simeon Kanev, Yoana Russeva and Vladimir Dimitrov, Chair of Green Strandzha Tourist Association. All speakers are proven specialists who actively contribute to the development of tourism in the region. Within the framework of the forum, Assoc. Prof. Boyka Donevska summarised and presented the results of a preliminary study.
 
The event was organised within the framework of Activity 1.3 of Project No. BGTR0200057 (CBC CULTOUR) “Tourism through Culture – Our Common Future”, funded by the INTERREG VI-A IPA Bulgaria – Turkey 2021–2027 programme.
 
To participate in the study, please complete the online survey. Your opinion will contribute to the development and implementation of new, useful ideas for the region. The aim of the survey is to identify the key factors influencing the development of tourism in the cross-border region, as well as to collect the opinions of stakeholders on the development of creative tourism, thematic destinations, marketing and sustainability of tourism products.
