Prof. Greddy Assa made a valuable donation to the Library and Museum Collection of the National Academy of Art and established an annual scholarship for students in the Department of Fashion Design
On 21 May 2026, in the Academia Gallery, Prof. Greddy Assa, DHC, made a donation to the National Academy of Art and announced the establishment of a scholarship for students from the Department of Fashion Design. The act of donation follows the Prof. Assa's intention announced during the ceremony of his awarding with the honorary title of the Academy.
As part of the donation, Prof. Assa provided the Department of Fashion Design with 8 volumes of "History of Art" by Nikolay Raynov, published in the 1930s. He presented the Department of Painting with an album with artworks by Mexican artists. The publication is from the Autonomous University of the State of Hidalgo in Pachuca, Mexico, where in April of this year, within the framework of the International Festival of Image FINI, Greddy Assa was awarded the title of International Honorary Professor. In addition to the book publications, Prof. Assa donated to the Academy’s Museum Collection a painting by him, which he personally signed during the event. The painting depicts his interpretation of the historical ateliers for painting, printmaking and sculpture at the National Academy of Art.
Along with the donations, the establishment of a one-year scholarship for the most inspiring student in the Department of Fashion Design, whose long-time teacher and co-founder is Prof. Assa, was also announced. The winner of the first scholarship to the amount of 1,000 EUR is the third-year student Arven Kisyova. The award is presented to her for her tireless work, inspiration, talent and contribution to the unity of students in the department.
The event was attended by the Rector of the National Academy of Art Prof. Georgi Iankov, Prof. Greddy Assa, the Head of the Department of Fashion Design Prof. Yana Kostadinova, PhD, Assoc. Prof. Aleksandar Gerginov, PhD, Mr Georges Lux, representatives of the Academy's management body, lecturers, students and visitors.
