The National Academy of Art presented the opportunities for education and international cooperation at an educational forum in Larnaca, Cyprus

On  9th and 10th of May 2026, the National Academy of Art took part in the Exhibition of Bulgarian Universities in Cyprus (Tochni and Larnaca), organised by the Bulgarian School "Rodna Striaha" in Cyprus and in cooperation with the Ministry of Education of Bulgaria and the Embassy of Bulgaria in Cyprus. 11 higher education institutions from Bulgaria took part in the exhibition.
 
Official representatives of the event were Giovanina Dokova, Consul of the Republic of Bulgaria in the Republic of Cyprus, Kalinka Pencheva, Director of the Bulgarian School "Rodna Striaha", Yana Yotova-Bakalova, Head of the Department "Strategic Development and Development Policies" at the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science, and on behalf of the Cypriot authorities: Mr Yassonas Yassonidis, Deputy Mayor of Larnaca, and employees of the Directorate "Career Development" at the Ministry of Education of Cyprus.
 
The representatives of the National Academy of Art – Svilena Chelebiyska-Mateeva, Director of Education, Projects and International Cooperation, and Dimitrina Spasсova, Head of the Public Relations Department – held meetings with prospective students and representatives of the institutions. During the visit, opportunities were also agreed for organiсing exhibitions and events by the National Academy of Art in the city of Larnaca and at the Larnaca City Art Gallery.
 
The participation of the National Academy of Art created opportunities for future cultural and educational cooperation between Bulgaria and Cyprus. The meetings with young people, parents and representatives of the Bulgarian community in Cyprus showed real potential for attracting prospective students to the National Academy of Art both among the Bulgarian diaspora and a wider international audience. During the visit, ideas for future exhibitions, artistic projects and joint initiatives in Larnaca were also discussed, as further proof that culture and education can be a natural bridge for dialogue and cooperation between the two countries.
