The Rector of the National Academy of Art welcomed a delegation from Trakya University in Edirne, Turkey at the Burgas Branch

One of the main goals of the National Academy of Art is to establish and develop productive relations with similar educational and cultural institutions from countries on the Balkan Peninsula and in Europe.
In this context, the Rector of the National Academy of Art, Prof. Georgi Iankov, and representatives of the Academy's management staff welcomed a delegation from Trakya University in Edirne, headed by Prof. Baibora Temel, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts.
The Vice-Rector Prof. Zdravka Vassileva, PhD, Assoc. Prof. Vasil Kolev, PhD, Head of Gallery and Exhibition Activities, Ms Svilena Celebiyska-Mateeva, Director of Education, Projects and International Activities, and Asst. Prof. Emil Markov, teacher in the Department of Book, Illustration, Printed Graphics, represented the National Academy of Art.
Prof. Temel introduced her colleagues in the delegation – lecturer Ilter Alkan, PhD, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Prof. Ruken Aclan, Head of the Painting Department, Assoc. Prof. Ferit Yazadzha, Head of the Sculpture Department, and Assoc. Prof. Semih Odundzhu, PhD, Head of the Department of Communications and Design.
The meeting attendees shared details regarding the structure and organisation of the educational process in the two institutions, and discussed the framework agreement prepared by the National Academy of Art, which includes proposals for joint cooperation options.
The Rector of the National Academy of Art spoke about the creation of the Branch of the Academy in Burgas, which had been training students under Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes for eight years.
The Burgas Branch successfully develops its educational activities and today we can boast about constructive development of Master's degree programmes. We are preparing to launch the most recently developed Master's programme in Underwater Archeology and Restoration, together with the Centre for Underwater Archeology in Burgas, said Prof. Iankov.
Ms Svilena Mateeva announced that an Erasmus+ mobility project of the National Academy of Art jointly with Trakya University in Edirne can be approved for funding in the current academic year, which will include the exchange of students, teachers and the presentation of joint exhibitions. Also, Ms Mateeva and Prof. Zdravka Vassileva presented other opportunities for further development of the educational and cultural activities realised between the two art institutions – through joint scientific, artistic and educational initiatives, lectures, presentations, joint projects and exhibitions, including such in the field of modern innovations in the visual arts.
The guests from Trakya University in Edirne visited the ateliers of the Academy's Branch in Burgas and learned about the educational process there.
At the invitation of the Rector of the National Academy of Art, the teams of the two art institutions also visited Chengene Skele, the emblematic fishing village and cultural-tourist complex.
