Arbuz 2014

On 21 and 22 October 2014 in the town of Tolyati, Russia, took place the final of the IX International Competition for young designers Arbuz. The competition theme this year is Culture + and its organizers are Povolzhski State University, the Municipality of the town of Tolyati and the National Academy of Art in Sofia.

After a preliminary selection of the numerous applications were selected 350 works by young artists from all over Russia, as well as students from the National Academy of Art. After the jury of the presented works in several different nominations were determined the winners (full list of winners can be viewed here). They were announced at a ceremony held at Tennis-Hall. The event was accompanied by a fashion show and exhibition of the nominated projects.

On behalf of the National Academy of Art members of the jury were Prof. Maya Bogdanova and Assoc. Prof. Kristina Borisova. The competition was the first event conducted within the Agreement for cooperation between the two universities signed in March this year. The two countries plan to develop joint activities, providing an opportunity for student exchange within the program Erasmus +.

The official award ceremony of the Bulgaria winners in various categories of competition Arbuz 2014 and the award of certificates of participation of selected Bulgarian students will be held at the Academia Gallery at 15:00 pm on November 3 (Monday) – the day of St. Pimen Zografsky, patron of both the Academy and Bulgarian artists.
