The eighth edition of DA Fest is forthcoming

The eighth edition of the International Digital Arts Festival DA Fest will take place from 26 to 30 October 2021 in Sofia. The festival is organised by the National Academy of Art and DA Lab Foundation, and is curated by Venelin Shurelov and Galina Dimitrova-Dimova.
 
The festival programme brings together prominent artists from the international art scene and young artists. Many of the international participants are coming to Bulgaria for the first time, which gives the locl audience a unique chance to see their art. 
 
DA FEST 8 events include exhibitions, audio-visual, theatre and dance performances, video art screenings, lectures and presentations, creative workshops, concerts to showcase the diverse research and artistic practices in the field of digital arts. 
 
DA FEST 8's selection includes over 30 artists from different countries and artistic disciplines, including Maurice Benayoun (France/Hong Kong), Jochem Hendricks (Germany), Andreas Müller-Pole (Germany), Dmitry Morozov (Russia), Ken Rinaldo (USA), Ana Petrovic (Croatia), Carlo Zanni (Italy), Nico Angiuli (Italy), Klaus Obermaier (Austria) and the duo Var & Mar (Estonia). Among the Bulgarian participants are the young artists Aksiniya Peicheva, Vladislav Iliev (Phormatik), Marina Genova, Veronika Tabakova and Yana Melamed, Ivelina Ivanova and Martin Lukanov, whose projects were produced earlier this year by DA Lab Foundation within the project "e-valuation".
 
The festival programme will reveal different aspects of the rich spectrum of contemporary art forms, such as digital video and photography, interactive performance and installation, audio-visual performance, virtual reality, streaming, three-dimensional mapping, network art, sound art, bio-technologies, robotics and generative systems, and other interdisciplinary forms.
 
The festival programme events will again saturate the environment in Sofia by happening at the following locations: Academia Gallery, ONE Gallery, Credo Bonum Gallery, Serdika Gallery and the gallery space at the Triangular Tower of Serdika at the Regional History Museum in Sofia, Institut Francais, Goethe Institute, Czech Centre and other venues for arts and culture in the Bulgarian capital city.

The eighth edition of DA Fest is part of Sofia Municipality Calendar of Cultural Events 2021 and is supported by the Ministry of Culture, the National Academy of Art, the European Media Art Platform, co-funded by Creative Europe, Institut Francais, Czech Centre, Kontrax and other organisations.

DA Fest is an international festival that introduces the Bulgarian audience to new artistic practices and significant achievements in the field of digital arts. The festival was launched in 2009 as an initiative of the Master's Programme in Digital Arts at the National Academy of Art in Sofia.
 
The selection of DA Fest presents diverse artistic practices, research and technological developments in the field of digital video and photography, interactive performance and installation, audio-visual performance, virtual reality, streaming, video mapping, network art, sound art, bio-technologies, robotics and generative systems and other interdisciplinary forms of contemporary art.
 
Owing to many years of effort and accumulation, DA Fest has established itself as the largest and the only digital arts festival of its kind in Bulgaria, presenting trends in digital arts – the most dynamic area of contemporary arts.
