Prof. Dr. Dessislava Hristova and Senior Lecturer Dr. Rossen Toshev participating in the international forum ISSS SURREALISMS 2021

From 11th to 14th of November, Prof. Dr. Desislava Hristova and Senior Lecturer Dr. Rosen Toshev are participating in the international conference ISSS SURREALISMS 2021, which is held with relation to the 110th anniversary since the emergence of surrealism. In the international forum, the artists from Bulgaria, influenced by surrealism from the time of socialism to the present day, work in various fields such as painting, graphics and others.
In Bulgaria, this trend has had a very strong influence, even during the socialist period, when the propaganda ideology was professed in service to the Communist Party. In a 15-minute video Prof. Hristo Staykov, Prof. Dr. Dessislava Hristova and Senior Lecturer Dr. Rosen Toshev are talking from an artistic point of view about surrealism and its influence in their work. Hristo Staykov belongs to the generation of artists in whose works this influence is particularly visible, especially for him due to the fact that he continues to work in this direction to this day. Of particular interest to the conference organisers is the artistic point of view of 3 generations of artists (Alexander Toshev is behind the scenes).
To name a few, Prof. Petar Chuklev, Assoc. Prof. Dimo Kolibarov, Onnik Karanfilyan and Zhivko Mutafchiev are also presented. It is not possible though to mention all those artists, who are influence by surrealism.
Extremely intriguing is the presentation of Rumena Kalcheva and her curatorial project "Slightly Personal about the Surreal", part of the 7x5x3 project of the Union of Bulgarian Artists.
We truly hope to witness further more in-depth research and contacts in this artistic area.
