The National Academy of Art again is No 1 in the Fine Arts in the Bulgarian University Ranking System

The annual awards of the Ranking System of Higher Education Institutions in Bulgaria, organised by the Ministry of Education and Science and implemented by IOO-S consortium, were presented at an official ceremony held in Sofia on 27 January 2026. The ceremony was attended by the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, the Minister of Education and Science, representatives of the executive branch, the academic community, national and international business organisations and institutions.
The National Academy of Art was recogniсed as a leading educatioн institution for the tenth consecutive year, taking first place in the professional field of Fine Arts. The Rector of of the Academy, Prof. Georgi Iankov, received the Academic Oscar from Dr. Eng. Nikola Rangelov, Chair of the Management Board of "Refran", which is proof of how important the interaction between art, education and industry is.
The ranking of higher education institutions in the Ranking System is the result of a comprehensive assessment as per over 50 indicators, including quality of education, academic environment, scientific and artistic activity, graduates' achievement and student satisfaction. With this recognition, the Academy ascertains its status as a leading institution for training of artists in the field of visual and plastic arts, responding to the challenges of modern times since its establishment in 1896, 130 years ago.
