2021.10.18

21 October 2021 – 9 January 2022
Opening: 20 October (Wednesday), 5:30 pm
Museum of the Rose
Kazanlak, Rosarium Park, 1 Voynishka Street

The exhibition is a joint project of the National Academy of Art, Art Gallery - Kazanlak and Iskra History Museum in Kazanlak. It will present works of teachers and alumni from the Atelier of Ceramics (at present Department of Ceramics) at the National Academy of Art, created within the period 1904 - late 1940s

The ceramic art objects are part of the Ceramics Collection, one of the oldest ones in the Academy’s Museum Collection. In technological terms the exhibition items will be a presention of various decorative techniques (underglaze and overglaze decoration on porcelain and faience, glaze and majolica decoration of local red clays and light fired local clays and fine stoneware clays), reflecting the artistic views of the founders and first teachers -- Professors Stefan Dimitrov and Stoyan Raynov. Indisputably of high quality as art, these early works proved to be a key factor in the development of artistic ceramics in the country not only in the first half of XIX century, but also during the several following decades.

The exhibition is part of the 125th anniversary programme of the National Academy of Art.
